Back in 2019, Activision Blizzard made a historically bad mistake in announcing a new Diablo game was in the works, and it would be arriving on smartphones on stage at Blizzcon. To say that fans and attendees at the convention weren’t too please with the event would be an understatement. The conference was regarded as terrible, with the presenters trying their best to do damage control while on stage, which has led to the now-infamous “Do You Guys Not Have Phones?” meme. One attendee’s questioning if Diablo Immortal was an early April Fool’s joke has also been turned into a humorous meme.

But, the last people you’d expect to join in a joke would be a major publisher like THQ Nordic. Recently, developer HandyGames announced that they would be porting the recent SpongeBob video game, Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. The game will be arriving on mobile devices via the App Store and Google Play, on January 21.

THQ Nordic retweeted the announcement with the now-infamous lines from Blizzcon 2019.

Is it jumping on the bandwagon that has left the station a long time ago? Sure, but it’s a tongue-in-cheek jab that’s a great way to kick off the New Year.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is available for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch
