Sephiroth

One of the biggest surprises from the 2020 Game Awards was the reveal that Final Fantasy VII antagonist, Sephiroth, would be arriving as a playable character to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sephiroth became available to all players on December 22 as either a separate purchase or as part of the Smash Bros. Second Fighter Pass. But, if you have already purchased Sephiroth via either option, there is an official way for you to obtain Sephiroth earlier than that.

First, you must have the latest patch to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In this latest update, Smash Bros. is running a short event that will run from now until December 22, called the Sephiroth Challenge. Completing this challenge will allow you to obtain the iconic Final Fantasy villain earlier than the intended release date. The Sephiroth Challenge has you choosing a fighter and fight against Sephiroth in an HP battle. Simply defeat him on one of three difficulty settings, and you will have unlocked him.

Even on Easy Mode, Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai promises that Sephiroth will be quite the challenge, so you better bring your A-Game if you want to unlock this infamous villain.
