One of the more under-the-radar launch titles coming to the PS5 will be Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The next installment in the LittleBigPlanet series sees the character making his return to consoles for the first time since 2014’s LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS4. One of the more interesting additions to Sackboy will be the inclusion of online co-op. But, those hoping to play with their friends over the internet won’t be able to do so on day one.

In a recent post on PlayStation Blog, Ned Waterhouse, design director at Sumo Digital, confirmed that Online Co-Op wouldn’t be available until sometime later this year. “We’ve made the difficult decision to delay the full online multiplayer functionality within Sackboy: A Big Adventure,” Waterhouse wrote.

Waterhouse also noted, “The team has been working hard to ensure that online is the very best experience it can be for players, and we just need a little more time to get it right so you can enjoy it to the fullest with your friends and family. Online multiplayer functionality will instead be coming via a patch by the end of 2020… We understand this will be disappointing for those of you hoping to take advantage of the online multiplayer functionality at launch and appreciate the patience.”

Sackboy: A Big Adventure arrived on PS4 and PS5 on November 12, with the ability to upgrade and transfer your saves to PS5 free of charge.
