PS5 Reveal: All You Need to Know

If you were hoping to go to your local retail store and pick up a PS5, you’ll be out of luck. Last week, Sony officially announced that it will not be shipping any additional PS5s to retailers. On the official PlayStation blog website, Sony revealed that “in the interest of keeping our gamers, retailers, and staff safe amidst COVID-19, today we are confirming that all day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners.”

The company’s Senior Director at SIE Content Communications Sid Shuman also requested that people not to partake in “camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase.”

However, if you were able to get a pre-order of a PS5 at your local retailer, you’ll still be able to go to the store and pick it up “under the retailer’s safety protocols.”

As of this writing, GameStop or any other retailer has yet to officially announce any protocol in attempting to get your pre-ordered PS5. It is recommended to contact your local store to get any additional information.
