Twitch Receives Influx Of DMCA Claims For Music Copyrighting
Twitch has been dealing with a “sudden influx” of DMCA copyright claims for violations of streamers using copyrighted music in the background of their streams from 2017-2019. When there is a claim from the DMCA, a streamer can quickly earn three strikes and be permanently banned from streaming.
On their Twitter account, Twitch posted a series of three tweets saying that they were aware of the situation and are telling their streamers to remove any clips that could have the potential for copyright violations.
This is the first time we have received mass DMCA claims against clips. We understand this has been stressful for affected creators and are working on solutions, including examining how we can give you more control over your clips.

We adhere to the DMCA, which requires that we take action on content and streamer accounts upon notice from rights holders, as happened this week. Our guidelines for music have not changed, so please reference them here. https://t.co/ln16yRNdif

The company did not specifically say how they will help streamers combat these issues of copyrights and what will happen to streamers who play popular games that have soundtracks of copyrighted music.
