Wait, they’re still doing that thing? Um, Ok. Well, If World Of Warcraft Classic is just too classic for you, the first expansion of the classic (get it?) MMORPG Burning Crusade is coming out on PC June 1.

I’ll admit it: I was never much of a WoW fan, so I may be ill-equipped to say this, but isn’t it kind of ridiculous to be running two versions of the same game simultaneously with 2020’s World of Warcraft Shadowlands having come out barely six months ago? Players right now can boot up their Blizzard accounts and choose between playing two versions of the same game: World of Warcraft which includes all expansions and updates to present day and World of Warcraft Classic which reflects a circa 2006 version of the game right now, but is moving forward in updates and versions at a rate similar to the other release.

I completely understand, and even dabbled a bit in, World of Warcraft Classic. There is a massive community of people who prefer vanilla WoW, and since Blizzard struck down Nostalrius six years ago, it’s clear they don’t want anyone playing and kind of WoW unless they can get paid.

Now that Blizzard is releasing Burning Crusade as a “classic” version of World of Warcraft, though, how long is it going to be until Mists of Pandaria makes its way into ClassicClassic fills a niche for players who thing modern World of Warcraft is stupid and unwieldy (because it is). If Blizzard updates World of Warcraft Classic past Wrath of the Lich King, it’s clear Blizzard has no idea why people enjoyed Classic in the first place.
